April Group Lesson and Performance Party

Our April group performance party was a success. Students performed their “works in progress” in preparation for the upcoming spring recital. As each student played our active listeners worked together to determine the tempo, meter, dynamics and mood of each performers piece.

We ended the afternoon with the Name that Interval game. Where we listened to two tones on the piano and guessed the distance between them. After only a few minutes of practice and a few tricks to remember how different intervals sound, everyone was an expert at hearing anything from a Perfect 4th to a minor 6th.

Our May group performance party we will begin studying music genres and composers with a focus on Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
