Beth began studying piano at the age of five and was a regular performer and competitor across her home state of Montana. In addition to her training as a pianist, Beth was actively involved in choir and musical theater during her childhood and teen years, receiving formal vocal training throughout high school.
Beth attended the University of Montana on a music scholarship, graduating Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano in 2001. It was during this time that she was selected to represent the university as a performer and student in the world’s music capital, Vienna, Austria. In addition to performing as a vocalist and pianist throughout Europe, Beth had the opportunity to attend pedagogy workshops at the Orff Institute for Music and Dance Pedagogy in Salzburg, Austria and the Kodaly Pedagogical Institute of Music in Kecskemet, Hungary.
Beth began teaching private piano lessons in 2003 while residing in Chicago, IL and spent two years teaching preschool music and movement curriculum.
In 2015, she relocated to Steamboat Springs where she maintains an active voice and piano studio. In addition, she facilitates a neuroscience based meditation practice called Neurosculpting®. She regularly integrates brain activation and meditation techniques into her practice and teaching.
Beth enjoys an active mountain lifestyle that includes skiing, hiking and mountain biking. Beth is a frequent world traveler and has had the opportunity to immerse herself in the music of cultures in Ghana, Ecuador, Guatemala, Bali and Nicaragua in addition to her travels throughout Europe. These influences can be seen in her teaching style and various world music programs.
In addition to her Bachelor’s degree, Beth also holds a Master’s in Nonprofit Management from the University of Colorado.
