Group Piano Parties

Students are taught age appropriate music vocabulary to begin their exploration into objectively listening and discussing a variety of music. In addition to performing, group activities include rhythmic games, community drum circle, and exploring composers and musical genres. Group performance parties are open to students of all instruments and can be a great addition to a student’s current study with their private instructor.

Wunderkeys Preschool Piano
piano recital duet performance

Through listening, singing, rhythm instruments and movement, piano primer classes are the perfect way to introduce the very young child to creative expression through music. These one on one classes begin the learning process through patterning and math based activities and slowly introduces the piano through teacher/student duets.

Piano Composition Circle

For those students who would like to delve deeper into composing their own musical literature, a special session is offered. Students will have the opportunity to explore the world of music composition by co-creating with their peers in a week long session that will give them the skills and tools they need to write and perform their own pieces. Students will learn the tools for basic composing such as dynamics, tempo, melody, harmony, repeated patterns, melodic shaping, phrasing, major and minor chords, and articulation.

Passport to World Music Camp

In this exciting week long camp students will gain the knowledge and appreciation of global cultures that are different from their own through the study of music and the creation of their own instruments from other countries. Each day of camp students will “travel” to a different country where we will explore the music, dance, and landmarks. Students will participate in making a new instrument that represents the country. Each day of camp, students will travel to a different country around the world — and they will collect stamps in their passports to prove it!
Students of any musical background and playing level as well as students with no musical background will enjoy Passport to Music.

Teaching Philosophy

Although my teaching style is rooted in classical music, I enjoy exploring a variety of genres to complement a particular style or technique. I seek to understand the particular learning styles and motivation of each student in order work together to develop achievable goals and repertoire. Private piano lessons typically focus on developing artistry and technique while building a strong repertoire, students will be provided a well rounded curriculum ensuring their education includes theory, ear-training, composition, sight-reading, transposition and ensemble work. I believe that creating music is much more than successfully playing notes on a page. Music is the universal language by which we are able to express emotions and feelings felt throughout our entire being. By integrating movement, singing and percussion into lessons, students are more wholly able to absorb musical concepts and apply them to the creative process.

I seek to provide a supportive and positive environment for students to explore musical expression and instill a life-long love for creating music. Honest and constructive criticism challenges students to delve deeper in their study and begin to develop a sense of ownership over their work and their process of learning and creating.
